I should add that had someone wanted to step up as mayor/director of operations, then I am sure there would have been a meeting or other form of broad community consent before the gavel was passed.

And if someone still wants to assume the responsibility, they should make that known to Fleep.

As Kristine said, this definitely wasn't a unilateral decision on my part. We've been discussing for some time and though I missed the last Town Hall, my understanding was the offer was there for anyone with the interest to step up.

The post was, I hope, a pretty accurate description of the consensus of the folks who've been in director or admin roles for the last few years. I personally don't have as much time for it as I used to, for sure.

I hope ultimately this will be a good thing for us individually and as a community - no one should feel burdened and stressed out about Chilbo. When it stops being fun and starts feeling like a job, time to make some changes. I hope these will be good ones.

I had decided I had enough pressure of the responsibility and asked to step down. This was brought up at a director's meeting with the likely candidates for replacement (those with both established community relationships and in-world time to do the job) having a chance to offer to step up and take the role. No one did.
The changes in the community model have been coming for months, have been discussed at previous town hall meetings. Also at the last couple town hall meetings, I have said that moderating meetings along with building the adgenda is not my strong suit and that if someone wished to take that on a volunteer would be welcome.
These changes are to strengthen the community, to give a coalition of landowners more responsibility to sustain the community.
The changes need to come sooner than later now, while those of us that manage the day-to-day things are not completely burnt out and can help with the transition.

Anyone is welcome to call a town hall meeting at any time.

I understand the need for greater investment in the community by its members, and agree with the goals of the announced changes as I understand them, but I'm a bit surprised that this was not first discussed at a Town Hall before it was posted here. As the greatest investor of tier to the community and its founder, Fleep certainly has the right to make unilateral changes such as this, but the Town Hall has been a useful forum for bringing ideas to the table to solve challenges. I am not clear, from what's been posted, whether the driving issue is tier-support (to reduce the burden on Fleep and Cosimo) or problems with the current governance structure. A discussion of the several issues at Town Hall could bring out additional ideas and options.

If it isn't already too late, I'd put in a plea for patience sorting out the land. Last time, the land in Mindulle went up for sale overnight with large areas being abandoned. The sim is still suffering from that, as it put a lot of land out of use - either being held by land holding groups or remaining abandoned. It can take a little while for everyone to realise what's happening and get in contact.

Kuwol is actually a mature/moderate sim, so the IVC location won't work for teens. It's also a bit of an issue with Route 10, as you pass into Kuwol briefly walking in the Mindulle direction... but both Chilbo and Mindulle are general access. The patchwork of moderate and general must be a bit of a nightmare for teens.
