Come to Noru in Greater Chilbo, Watch Great Videos

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Some time ago I settled down in Greater Chilbo, in the far away Noru region. We (Violetta Leshelle and I, Olando Decosta) tried to civilize the place, and we even have a cinema there, next to a deli.

In the cinema we feature videos about social media and their impact on the society, the economy and businesses. It is a non-profit venture, and I feel inspired by the social media library in Chilbo. In consider our place in Noru to be an in-world extension of my blog MixedRealities.

I started out with Clay Shirky (from the documentary Us Now). Please come and have a look!
(Just enter, and click the screen)

We’d like to organize discussions about social media in Noru, and I hope the video can be inspiring.

Poetry Reading Featuring Cecilia Delacroix

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

Poet Cecilia Delacroix performed her first public reading at The Shrubbery Amphitheatre in Chilbo on Saturday, May 3rd.

Clearly inspired by the beauty and power of nature, Cecilia’s works centered around a theme of the seasons. Her first readings were a celebration of the rebirth, lush growth, and the playfulness all life feels in the new Spring. She then turned to the warmth of Summer, evoking the “salt breeze” of the ocean and and lazy carefree days. With “The Edge of Maybe” and the end of summer, Cecilia explores her search for peace with herself and the world, and in “September Lonely”, she perfectly captures the melancholy of Autumn. Finally, in “Winter Solstice” and “Fresh White”, she feels the solitude of winter and and the wonder of a snow-blanketed earth.

All an all an excellent and perfectly appropriate inaugural event at The Shrubbery Amphitheatre & Park! With many thanks to Cecilia for a wonderful performance and Rachel Corleone for arranging the event!

Ra Deemster Makes Donation to Chilbo

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

Longtime resident and original First Lander of Chilbo, Ra Deemster donated 1024m of land to the Chilbo Community Building Project this evening. Adjacent to the newly proposed amphitheatre and park in The Shrubbery, the plot will contribute to the park like nature of the center of the sim. “It’s the least I can do to the community of which I have been part of for a long time,” said Ra. Our great thanks to Ra for his contribution, and his continued involvement with Chilbo! – Fleep

Visiting the Livingtree Sim

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

Visiting the Livingtree sim where there are very cute sweaters for free and sale. I like the map with brochures, and I’m impressed with the welcome area of the sim. When I landed the first thing I noticed was the sound of a whiporwill, something I haven’t heard since childhood. The next thing I noticed was a building that looked awfully like the old school house where I used to catch the bus, and cute squirrels flitted about my feet. The sim evoked my childhood before I knew anything about it, not in a cheesy splashy marketing way, but in a way that feels much more authentic. I wonder if new visitors feel a difference when they cross our borders and come into Chilbo?
